Based in Belgium, Benedicte Goesaert is an art advisor and curator with over fifteen years’ experience in contemporary art. She holds a Master’s degree in Art History from Ghent University and completed the postgraduate programme in Curatorial Studies at KASK and Ghent University.
In 2020 Benedicte founded her independent practice as an art advisor and curator after eight years joining the team of Zeno X Gallery where she got promoted to director.
Her international perspective is continually shaped by reading and conversations with artists, collectors and colleagues, as well as by studio visits, exhibitions, art fairs and travel.
For Benedicte, art is a way of relating to life: it can challenge perception, open inner worlds and give form to what words cannot express. Uniting research and market knowledge with intuition and emotional sensitivity, she explores how art relates to people, context and architecture. In advising collections and shaping exhibitions, she connects artworks with their setting and the lives around them.

Benedicte’s expertise spans modern and contemporary art of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. Grounded in art-historical research and informed by market knowledge, her approach combines close analysis with intuition, emotional sensitivity and spatial awareness.
She works across painting, works on paper, sculpture, mixed media, and photography, while remaining open to practices beyond these media. Her interests move from abstraction to figuration, from minimal to expressive approaches, and the ways innovation, contemplation and socio-political dynamics shape artistic practice. Her perspective is rooted in European and North American art histories and broadened through sustained engagement with African American art and with practices and histories from Brazil, including Afro-Brazilian perspectives, and South Africa.
She has developed particular expertise in the oeuvres of Luc Tuymans, Marlene Dumas, Jack Whitten, Michaël Borremans, Mark Manders, Raoul De Keyser, N. Dash, Marina Rheingantz, Antonio Obá and Zhang Yunyao.
Her advisory expertise encompasses acquisitions and (private) sales, collection building and reorientation, and planning for artistic legacies. She also advises on the presentation of art and the experience of living with it, attentive to context, scale and spatial relationships. Through curatorial projects and exhibitions, she creates meaningful connections between artworks, spaces and audiences.
